Our Story

Our story began in 1992 when the firm was founded as “Hanson Financial Services” by Andy Hanson. Managing Partner and Wealth Advisor Doug Gjerde, MBA, CFP®, CEPA joined the team in 2006 and continued growing the firm. Back then, we were one of the only firms in the area offering fiduciary wealth management services, long before it was widely accepted as a practice.

We have always operated under the assumption that people should understand what’s going on with their money.

In 2014, the firm was renamed Heritage Financial and Wealth Advisors and Partners Chris Schuler, MBA, CFP® and Jeremy Weller, CRPC® came on board. Stephanie Lee, FPQP® joined our team in 2015. The team has continued to grow since then under Doug’s leadership. And just as Doug bought out Andy so many years ago, Chris and Jeremy will buy out Doug – making our firm thrive through three generations of advisors who are passionate about providing customized, goal-based solutions.

Nowadays, we are active members of our community. We’re involved with Rotary International, CASA, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, Giving Tree, St. George’s Church, Rake Up Green Bay, HEA Hour of Love, Puttin’ for a Purpose, Salvation Army Food Drive and Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary. Our growing team cares about our community and strives to give back.

We are members of the Financial Planning Association, the Estate Planning Council, Ed Slott’s Elite IRA Advisor Group, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Our philanthropic interests are personal to us and are not reviewed, or approved by CWM, LLC.

What We Do

We specialize in tax planning and estate planning and frequently offer retirement planning workshops. Many of our clients are multi-generational, meaning we guide wealth management strategies for many members of a family.

We often reminisce about the days when our records were kept in file cabinets and we had file cabinets in our office, jam-packed with files – some file cabinets consisted of nothing but members of one family. Now that we no longer keep our files in file cabinets, we look back on those days fondly when there was such a tangible, visual representation of our impact on families.

Though our storage methods have evolved with time, our dedication to helping families hasn’t wavered.

Who We Are

Our growing team of Wealth Advisors and support staff are part of the nationwide Carson Partners network of Advisors, granting us access to a deep bench of tenured credentialed professionals and enhanced resources including a dedicated Investment Committee, Research Department, Advanced Solutions Team and other planning professionals.

Though we’re part of something bigger, our local team still provides friendly, customized service. We know our clients, and they know us – and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
